Urgent call to pray

Hi Fellow Church Leaders and anyone else who would like to respond,

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT CHURCHES TOGETHER IN SCARBOROUGH ENCOURAGING OUR NATIONAL CHURCH LEADERS AND PERHAPS MORE SPECIFICALLY THE ARCHBISHOP OF YORK (AND/OR CANTEBURY) TO ISSUE A CALL FOR A NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER IN VIEW OF THE TERRIBLE (FINANCIAL) CRISIS WE THE EUROZONE AND PARTS OF THE WORLD ARE IN? MAYBE CHURCHES COULD BE INVITED TO KEEP THEIR DOORS OPEN ON THAT DAY FOR PEOPLE TO COME AND PRAY.

I understand Parliament commences its proceedings each day with prayers to the One God of Heaven and Earth in the Trinity of His Sacred Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In the past, the Monarch would call the nation to prayer during times of crisis. The last to do so was King George VI, who, acting under the advice of Winston Churchill, called the nation to a National Day of Prayer for Repentance and Petition for Deliverance during World War II.
This has been something on our leadership team’s heart and I share it with you to see what you think. Look forward to hearing from you.

The Lord bless you and our churches in Scarborough,

Michael Glover
